Understanding general notary work
A Texas notary public is an impartial, state-commissioned witness. During a notarization, the notary verifies each signer's identity, confirms the signer is willing and aware of what they are signing, and completes the notarial certificate so the document carries legal weight.
An acknowledgment confirms you signed willingly for the purposes stated in the document. A jurat requires you to swear or affirm that the contents are true, and you must sign in the notary's presence. The correct act is usually printed in the document's notary block.
Banks, title companies, courts, government agencies, schools, and employers often require notarized documents to deter fraud and confirm authenticity. A properly completed notarization helps your paperwork get accepted the first time.
A notary cannot choose a notarial act for you, prepare or complete legal documents on your behalf, or give legal advice. If you are unsure which certificate your document needs, ask the receiving party or an attorney before your appointment.

If you would like us to print your documents, printing is $0.50 per page, including certified copies and uploaded documents. Once printed, this fee is non-refundable—even if you cancel or reschedule—because physical ink and paper have already been used.
